2008 VBS Theme is Friendship Trek
Jesus, our Forever Friend Friends are great gifts from God… and the greatest friend of all is Jesus, our Savior!

Grab your gear and join Friendship Trek, an amazing hike through the Bible to meet Jesus, our Forever Friend. Kids find fun, faith, and friends at Friendship Trek. They experience Jesus’ friendship, enjoy meeting old and new friends, and learn to care for one another.

Kids explore five friend-filled Bible stories about Jesus. They run to follow Jesus as He reaches out to a new friend named Matthew. They go along as a centurion’s friends ask Jesus to heal the man’s servant—and He does! They traipse to the temple as Jesus heals a blind friend, then go to Bethany to see Jesus raise His friend Lazarus from the dead. Finally, they scurry to a locked room on Easter evening to witness the ultimate love Jesus showed by giving His life for His friends.

Mark your calendars for a fun filled week at St. Paul’s starting on Sunday, July 20 through Friday, July 25, 2008 from 5pm-8pm. Help the children to go on their Friendship Trek by serving as: Teachers for Level 1 (Ages 3-5); Level 3 (Ages 6-8); Level 4 (Ages 9-12); Music, Crafts, Snacks, Recess, Decorations, Skit, and Kitchen help. We provide all the resources you need. Thanks for taking the time to pray and consider this request. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us, Denise Hubbard (592-8161); Vanessa Queen (581-9331); or Kim Hays (592-0308).

Hello friend!

We’re going on a Friendship Trek, and we’d like you to come with us! St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is sponsoring Friendship Trek, a Vacation Bible School program on July 20-25 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

At Friendship Trek, we’ll find the truth about Jesus. We’ll meet new friends, get to do fun activities, hear great Bible stories, sing awesome songs, make crafts, play games, eat snacks, and more! It’s going to be fun, but it would be more fun with you there.

Can you join us? Let’s ask our parents to talk about getting us there.

Your friends, Raya Raccoon, Buddy, Baldwin Eagle, Rocky Ram and Honey Bear

Vision Committee
Our Vision Committee is open to all members of St. Paul’s. The purpose of the Vision Committee is to spark ideas and practical ways that may help us live out our Value Statements and our Mission Statement. We plan to meet quarterly, this month meeting on the 5th Tuesday evening, April 29.

The Vision Committee then passes the ideas along to the appropriate Board or Committee of the Congregation, for them to further evaluate and carry out as they decide.

Do you have an idea for the life of our congregation and our mission together? Please join us on April 29 to share your ideas.

Voters' Meeting
The meeting is on Sunday, July 13, 2008 following the Worship Service. We encourage all confirmed members to participate in receiving currant information and helping with the work of the congregation.

Greeters
Many THANKS to all families who volunteered to greet our members and visitors to St. Paul’s. Also, thanks to Carol Gilman who coordinates this. It is nice to come in and see a friendly face.

If you would like to participate in this outreach to members and visitors please contact Carol or the church.

The things you will do is arrive at church 10 minutes before the service begins, put on a name tag, stand in the Narthex and greet all who come to worship with us. If they are a visitor you can ask them to sign our guest registry. Of course, to smile and welcome them to St. Paul’s.

Lutheran Church Extension Fund
God has called us to be citizens in both the Kingdom of God and of the United States of America. He has blessed us with freedoms that many other nations only dream of. With this freedom comes responsibility to live as model citizens and to use our freedom to worship as a means of evangelizing our nation. Your investment in Lutheran Church Extension Fund makes a difference in that it provides funds for place and space for congregations to further their ministry. Call 1-800-THE-LCEF (843-5233) or visit www.lcef.org for more information on how you can become a partner in the support of ministry throughout the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Or call our congregational LCEF representative for more information on this savings ministry: Fred Bangerter at 573-295-4859, after 6:00 pm.

Simply Giving
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has a Simply Giving Program where member’s gifts are made through a pre-authorized withdrawal from your bank account. You determine the frequency of your automatic gift---weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly---the option is yours.

The benefits to you and to St. Paul’s are it allows you to share your gifts through planned giving and activates your generosity into ongoing stewardship. Because your gift is given consistently, you won’t need to play "catch-up" at year-end or worry about forgotten checkbooks or missed Sunday offerings. But you are not the only one who benefits.

St. Paul’s benefits from steady, more predictable revenues throughout the year, more efficient bookkeeping, and greater confidence in meeting its financial commitments.

If interested, the forms are on the back table in the church. You can place the filled out forms in the collection plate and Carol Hutchinson will take care of it for you.
